You can query a Music Collector Database using the SQL database language. To submit an SQL command, click on the Search drop-down menu, on the Search screen, and select ‘Submit SQL Command’.

Another small screen is displayed. Type your SQL command in the box provided then click on the ‘Submit SQL Command’ button to search the database. Any matches found will be displayed in the search grid.

If you want to use you SQL command again in the future, you can save it by clicking on the File drop-down menu and selecting Save SQL Command. Previously saved commands can be opened ,by selecting Open SQL Command. Any SQL commands will have a file extension of *.sqm.

Save Five SQL Commands On The Search Screen

To make using your SQL commands easier, there are five menu items where you can save and quickly use up to five SQL commands.

On the Search screen, select the Search drop-down menu at the top. There is a sub menu called ‘Saved SQL Commands. If you select this, another 5 sub menus will be displayed. Each of these sub menus can be an SQL command. To run one of these commands, click on the menu item or use the short-cut keys CTRL+F1, F2, F3, F4 or F5.

How To Setup A Menu SQL Command

On the Search drop-down menu, select ‘Setup SQL Commands’. Now when you select the SQL command from the menu another screen is displayed. On this screen you can enter your SQL command. Click on the ‘Test SQL Command’ button to test that your command works.

Enter a name for this SQL command. This name will be displayed in the Search menu on the Search screen. Click on the ‘Save Menu SQL Command’ button to save the information entered. To run this command from the Search screen, select ‘Submit SQL Commands’ from the ‘Search’ drop-down menu. Now, when you click on the menu item the database will be searched with the SQL command that you setup.
