Note: problems were reported with the auto update function. This has been removed from later versions of Music Collector Database. To install a patch you will need to do it manually.

Instructions To Install A Patch

• Download the new patch file.
  
  
• Go to the Program folder, if you installed at the default location this will be:-

C:Program Files\Music Collector Database

• Find the file mcdb.exe, right click on it and select rename. Rename the file, we would suggest incrementing by 1 EG rename as mcdb1.exe.,mcdb2.exe etc.
  
  
• Copy the new mcdb.exe file to the above folder location.
  
  
• Restart the Program.

If there are any problems with the new version, you can revert back to the older version by renaming the original file back to mcbd.exe.

If any problems are reported a fix will be produced. This will be in the form of a patch file. Check our web site for the latest patch levels. The patch version will be indicated by a letter after the Version number. EG Version 1.7 (no patches to version 1.7) Version 1.7a ( first patch available) the next patch file will be Version 1.7b and so on.

To Install A Patch

NOTE: The patch file will begin with mcdb_patch_ then the patch number

EG mcdb_patch_1.7a.exe

1. Download the patch file from the web site (this will be a zip file)

2. Unzip the patch file by double clicking on it.

3. Start up the Program.

4. From the File drop-down menu on the Main Menu screen select Apply Patch.

5. Select the patch file, the one you unzipped in step 2.

6. Click on Save.

7. Exit and restart the Program. The version number should now reflect the patch you have just installed.

To Install A New Version From An Old Version

A new version will contain added features so you will need to do a full download from our website.

Prior to that the old version should be de-installed by:-

Clicking on Start

Click on Settings

Click on Control Panel

Select Add/Remove Programs

Select Music Collector Database from the list and click on the Add/Remove button.

NOTE: make sure you have your registration number, you will need to enter it to activate the new version.

The old version will now be removed, a message will be displayed saying unable to remove a folder that contained the Program file

You may also get messages about shared files – click on the Keep button to stop these files being removed.

After the old version has been removed install the new version as per the initial install instructions. Enter your registration number.You will now be ready to use the new version.
