Import From Another Music Collector Database

It is possible to import (copy) all the information from one Music Collector database to another.

To do this select ‘Import From Another Music Collector Database’ from the File drop-down menu on the Main Menu screen. Select the database you want to import from and click on the Open button.

A form will now be displayed showing the current database file you will be importing to and the database file you are importing from.

At the bottom of the form you can see how many entries are in the current database, how many are in the database to be imported from and the total number of entries that can be imported.

If the current database is almost full you may not be able to import all the entries.

There are three different types of import, these are selected by clicking on the appropriate option button. They are:-

All

Only Import if Artist, Title and Condition not duplicated

Only Import if Artist, Title and Format not duplicated

To import all the information from one database to another, select All and then click on the Start Import button.

The other two types of import check the entries in the current database with the entries in the database to be imported. Any duplicate entries will NOT be copied to the current database.

The fields checked for duplication are Artist, Title and Condition or Format.

NOTE: If the database you are importing from has an entry for a Double CD or album you may find only one entry gets imported. If the entries for a double album are identical, only one will be added to the database. You need to make sure the two entries are different in some way. e.g. Best Of CD 1 and Best Of CD 2

To import a large database may take several minutes. To stop the import process, click on the Stop Import button. There is a progress bar at the bottom of the form, this will show the status of the import process.
