Order By

You will notice on some screens there is a drop-down menu called ‘Order By’. If you click on ‘ Order By’, a menu will be displayed showing the columns you can select to order the information. The default is ‘Order By Artist’. The current ‘order by’ setting is highlighted by the tick symbol.

You can change the way the information is displayed in the search grid by changing the ‘Order By’ setting.

For instance, if Artist is selected, the information will be ordered by Artist, i.e. the artist column will be arranged in alphabetical order. You can also use the Ascending/Descending settings to change whether the artist column will be sorted from A to Z or Z to A.

You can select which columns you use to sort and display any matches found in the database.

For example:

You have clicked on the ‘Display All’ button so all entries in the database are displayed in the search grid.

You now select Year from the ‘Order By’ drop-down menu and click on the ‘Display All’ button again. The same entries are displayed again but this time they will be sorted by year. Any entries with an early year will be displayed at the top of the grid and later ones will be ordered in chronological order.

Each of the columns named in the ‘Order By’ drop-down menu can be sorted in the same way.
